I'm not very punctual.

OK, here I am in the new Beta Blogger. I only changed because they made me. They took me kicking and screaming the whole way.

Now every one join me in a rant -

BLOGGER SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, I feel a little better now.

Now back to your regularly scheduled blog.

As most of you know, I have written a novel and am trying to get it published. When I tell people this, they get the impression that I know how to write.

The truth is, I am horrible at the nuts and bolts of writing. I can't spell and I have no idea how to punctuate anything. The one grammar rule I know is "When in doubt, put in a comma." My mind just doesn't work well with that kind of stuff.

The problem was compounded by my attending a liberal private elementary school. It was great for my social development, but it was very weak in the writing area. For my first 38 years, I hated writing and went to great lengths to avoid it.

Imagine my surprise when I decided to write a book. What was I thinking? Who was I trying to fool? This had disaster written all over it.

Thus, it came as no surprise to me when the folks in my writers group pointed out that all of my dialogue was incorrectly punctuated. And my novel is dialogue driven. I have spent the last few days going through all 60,000 words and fixing my sucky punctuation.

The good news is that I'm all done. It was a drag, but I guess it's all good because I learned how to do it right.

Apologies to Drew's Crew for the whining post. The next one should be more up beat. Thanks for listening.

Thought for the day -

BLOGGER SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get that book published, because I want to read it. The book in elementary schools now is writing and it's a chore to do with my first graders--you should see their use of punctuation!

I'm doing my best. 3 rejections from agents this week. I love that Drew's Crew gives me an international audience.
