6/29/06

Nine months later and I'm done! First draft of my manuscript is in the can. Cool.
I saw "Walk the line" last night and it was awesome. I thought I was listening to my old Johnny Cash albums. It was a triumph of the human spirit.
I also read the book "Star Girl" by Jerry Spinelli. Everyone must read this. Everyone!

Thought for the day-

Fight conformity. Walk softly and wear a loud shirt.

Man, what a weekend! Wrapped up the play yesterday and had a very cool laid back cast party. Community theater rocks!
England beat Ecuador and now my lads play Portugal on Saturday. The World Cup rocks!
I saw the movie "Click" with Adam Sandler and thought it was pretty good. He does take the potty humor a little far, though. It was the feel good movie of the year.

Thought for the day-

How many guitars does a person need? One more. Always one more.

Eighteen down and one to go. I knocked out another chapter and am ready to wrap it all up. Welcome to the wonderful world of editing and rewrites. What fun. At least tomorrow I'll get to watch England play Ecuador. Go Three Lions!!!

Thought for the day-

If a person who cannot hear is called hard of hearing, is someone who can hear perfectly soft of hearing?

I went out and saw "Cars" last night. Very cool and very funny. The feel good movie of the year.

Thought for the day-

Am I the only one bothered by ads at the movies? I don't want to pay ten bucks to see a Coke commercial.

Happy Monday! Saturday was a great day. Watching the World Cup in the morning, finishing a chapter in the afternoon, and putting on the play at night. Life is good.
The highlight of the weekend was when my two year old niece saw my picture in the playbill, pointed to it, and said "Drew". As I said, life is good.
I hope all is well with y'all. Have a groovy week.

Thought for the day-

The favorite time of day for a procrastinator is the last minute.

Three red cards in one game? What's up with that? In over thirty years of playing and watching soccer, I have never seen that. It looks like I'll be up at seven in the blessed AM to see if the USA can pull a rabbit out of their hat.

Thought for the day-

You miss every shot you don't take.

It's amazing, but it looks like I'm gonna make my goal of finishing my first draft by July. Yay for me. I love it when a plan comes together. Well I'm off to the play.
Have a wonderful Friday,
Drew :)

Thought for the day-

If it's worth doing well, it's worth doing tomorrow.

It's been a tough day in the world of sports. First Big Ben (quarterback of my beloved Steelers) gets in a motorcycle wreck and then the US gets burred in the world cup opener.
I made it through opening weekend of the play. Last night, I slept for ten hours. The show is going great. We played to a full house on Saturday. I am having a blast.
I hope to have some good writing time this week, now that we are done with rehearsals.
Have a wonderful week.

Thought for the day-

Never let the outcome of a sporting event ruin your day. When all in said and done, It's just a game.

I'll rest when I'm dead. It's opening night and I need some rest. Tech week can really take it out of a person. I have been writing this week and that feels great. I finally found the last piece of the puzzle in my book. I always knew I would, but I was getting close to that part of the plot and was getting a little worried. I love it when it all falls into place.
Y'all have a great weekend,
Drew :)

It's amazing what a few days off can do for a person's creativity. I started working today and (what I think was) wonderful stuff started coming out. Well, back to work. I don't want to lose my momentum.

Thought for the day-

Honesty without tact is like a diet soda. It's a good thing, but it's just not right.

It's a sad day in the music world as we mourn the passing of Billy Preston. The world is a lesser place without the fifth Beatle.

Thought for the day-

Dust off your Let It Be album and listen to Billy play on Get Back.

6/5/06

Man, now that was a long weekend. It was the start of tech week for the play. I have spent most of my time either at the theater or sleeping. Somehow, I found time to attend my niece's second birthday party. A ton of fun, but why do all toys now have to sing, talk, or beep? What happened to blocks and balls?
I also got to go out to the movies. Over the Hedge is way cool. William Shatner does a wonderful job of lampooning himself.
I did get a little real work done. First draft of my book description for my query letter is in the can. One less thing.

Thought for the day-

Always turn up the car stereo and sing along. Especially at stop lights.

Greetings from the intermittent wiper state. I just got home from guitar lessons. (Yes, more Buffett) I'm improving, but it's a long road. The guitar is a rhythm instrument and I am rhythm impaired.
Yesterday I brushed Rosie Cotton (that's her picture on my blog) and I'm thinking about filling a quilt with her fur.
Well, I've gotta go work on prop maps and such for the play.

Later,
Drew :)

Thought for the day-

Always follow the rabbit trails. Some times they go in circles, but they can take you to extraordinary places.
