Meeting Dr. McDreamy

Well I'm back again. I've been quite busy the last two weeks.

When I say busy, I mean that we got Netflix here at Casa de Drew. I'll just say that I am getting my moneys worth. I have been spending a lot of time in front of the idiot box.

The biggest surprise is how much I like Grey's Anatomy. The writing is really good, the characters are great, and the acting is top notch.

The only weird thing is that it's set in Seattle. As a native, I have a hard time getting around the inaccuracies in the setting. In the first episode, I couldn't stop laughing when the medivac helicopter carrying a critical patient landed on the roof of the KOMO 4 building.

It gives me great comfort to know that if I'm ever injured, that I will be taken to one of the finest local TV stations in the nation to receive care.

Well, I off to watch some more TV. Peace out.

Just what I needed

The other day I went to the mall to get some hand soap for my bathroom. The fact that I needed to do this proves that I do in fact wash my hands after I'm done.

Anyway, I like the vanilla liquid soap from Bath and Body Works. I walk into the store and go right to the hand soap. A very nice sales lady comes up to me and says "I see that you came right to the soap. You must know about our 4 for $10.00 sale."

I informed her that I was unaware of the sale and that I only required one, but thanks. I then took my single bottle of soap to the check out lady. There, I was again informed that for a little more money, I would be able to get more soap than I needed or wanted. Apparently, I look very dirty and in need of a good cleaning. I once again declined.

After paying for my soap, the check out lady asked me for my phone number. I told her that I was flattered, but I hardly knew her.

She then told me that she did not want it for that reason. (A likely story) She said that they would use it to send me adds and coupons.

Wow! Just what I needed, more crap from people who want my money. Why just the other day I was saying to myself "Self, wouldn't it be great to get more junk mail." Why did she think that this would make we want to give out my number? I once again declined.

I thought that this was bad until I went to Best Buy. I had to say no five times! I thought that they were going to ask for a blood sample.

The Man is always trying to know more about us. I was amazed as I watched the other people in line give out their information without thinking about it. It has become normal to tell strangers anything they ask. We need to just take a minute to consider the consequences of our actions.

OK, I feel better now.

Only in America.

Yesterday, I saw something that made me shake my head in disgust. I was at Best Buy looking for a small freezer for my garage. I did a double take when I saw a refrigerator with a TV in the door.

What's up with that?

No wonder we are over weight in this country. People can't be without television even for the time it takes to get a snack. Or they need to be watching while they cook.

Pretty soon, we will be a society that doesn't talk and has never seen the sun.

I don't watch TV, and feel left out because 85% of conversation revolves around television shows.

People, it's time to turn off the idiot box and experience real life. Go outside. Take a walk. Talk to your friends. Don't let your obituary say that all you did was watch TV.

OK, I feel better now.

Thought for the day -

It's OK for the TV to be turned off once in a while.

Chicks dig the car.

This weekend, my church held it's annual men's retreat. I'm not going to talk about that.

My friend and I carpooled to the event in my Mustang. While driving through a small town, two teenage girls cat called us.

This kind of thing had never happened to either of us before. We are two 40 year old guys, and the only heads we have ever turned were ones that we had a very firm grip upon. We knew it was the car and not us, but it did give our egos a boost.

Sometimes, life is good.

Thought for the day -

Clothes don't make the man, the cool car does.
