The best birthday party ever!

Last night, I celebrated my 40th birthday by renting a roller rink and throwing a huge party. My birthday isn't till October, but because the place was booked up, we had the party last night.

My wife played hostess (Thanks, Honey) and let me skate and hang out with my friends. I burned two CDs of 70's and 80's music and we grooved to the old school for two and a half hours.
I told everyone not to bring gifts, so I got a big stack of birthday cards.

It was wonderful to share this milestone with the people I care about. I am truly blessed.

Thought for the day -

Don't forget to let you inner child out to play every once in a while.

Happy Birthday Drewster!

'70's and '80's tunes?...I am so there. My 40th (in Jan) was a girls day at the spa. Sublime. Turning 40 I thought would bring on some kind of existential epiphany. I am still waiting.

You?

Ah, happy almost birthday! That sounds fun! I remember going to the skating rink and being like the only one who didn't get asked to couple skate. I sat on that bench and sllloooooowly untied my skates in the hopes that some boy would come over and ask me to skate.

One time, one did, and my palms were so sweaty from holding his hand so I let go and wiped my palms on my jeans. Too classy. I also think I had my green "If-you-can-read-this-you're-too-close" cool comb in my back pocket!

Thanks for the memories!

Happy almost Birthday! The skating rink sounds awesome. I loved going to the skating rink even though I sucked at skating. Never did learn to skate backwards.

I used to save my allowance and go skating every weekend. God I hated waiting on the sidelines for someone to ask me to skate the couples skate. My husband's 40th is this year. Thanks for the ideas. Mine's not until next year.

Most people don't like to do things they aren't good at. B. and skating don't mix. I also hate rollerblading and skiing.

Glad you enjoy that and that you had a great time!
